Tone, Tighten, Definition!

Tone, tighten, define… that’s all we ever hear! Whether it be for our glutes, arms, legs or tums!

But today, i am not talking to you about exercise (although i should be doing more!), today is all about FACE TONER! That doesn’t mean lifting rocks on your lips or stones off your eye lashes, I’m talking about the liquid kind!

So Wikipedia says ‘In cosmetics, skin toner or simply toner refers to a lotion or wash designed to cleanse the skin and shrink the appearance of pores, usually used on the face. Toners can be applied to the skin in different ways: On damp cotton wool. (This is the most frequently used method.)’

So i did a bit of research, and tried and tested 3 face toning products

  1. Simple- Kind To Skin Soothing Facial Toner (£2.19 Superdrug)
  2. Rituals- Refreshing Facial Toner ( £10.50 Rituals)
  3. The Body Shop- Seaweed Clarifying Toner (£10.00 The Body Shop)

My favourite, by far, was the toner from The Body Shop!

Now, this is my kind of toner. It’s alcohol free, doesn’t sting when I apply it, has a pleasant scent without being overpowering and most importantly, it makes my skin feel nicely cleansed and toned after I’ve used it. It claims to restore balance and control excess oil, which i feel it really does! I have a combination skin! My T-Zone can be dry and the outer areas oily or vice versa!

The Body Shop says,

‘This alcohol-free, refreshing and purifying toner helps to re balance combination skin.

  • Removes traces of cleanser, make-up and impurities
  • Purifies
  • Refreshes
  • Prepares skin for moisturiser’

It does what it says on the bottle!

I used this product in the morning after my shower and before moisturising and applying makeup. It preps the skin for the day and leaves it feel clean and weirdly toned! Try it and you’ll know what i mean!
