Brows! We left them natural in the 70s, we bushed them out in the 80s, we plucked and waxed them to within an inch of their lives in the 90s, Wirey brows hit us in the naughties and now its 2016 and we are still nursing the damage from the ninties and colouring in the gaps.
So what is this obsession with drawing them on?
I have recently talked a lot on social media about brows to try and understand how people attack theirs.
Besides from their 90s disasters, it appears, the majority of people still have those 90s brows hidden under layers of brow pencil and gel and by having those thin brows they use them as a base plate for whatever brows they want.
I have blonde hair, therefore, my brows are very light and practically non-existent. This means, pencil for me, will and always has been a must.
But when you have such light brows- which shade do you use?
I have been on the hunt for the perfect brow product, from pencil to powder from gel to dye and here are my findings;
Product one– I started off by using a reputable brand and chose the NYX Auto Eyebrow Pencil. A pretty safe bet- how wrong could I go? Well, unfortunately, pretty wrong it turns out. The coverage the pencil gives is amazing- let me start by saying that- but the shade match was tough. If you aren’t brown you’re ginger in the NYW brow category. I just could not find a shade that matched my blonde brows.
Product two– Next I thought id try the Moodstruck Precision Brow liner in light. I am always a little skeptical with Younique as you can not buy or test in a store you have to rely purely on the opinion of their presenters. However, the shade of this liner is spot on. I cannot get closer than this. BUT, when you twist the liner all the way out there is not a lot of liner in the tube and it really doesn’t last that long at all unfortunately.
Product three– Makeup Revolution Focus and Fix Brow Kit in Light. I was super excited to try this product, having heard many good reviews i thought this would be ‘the one’. The product is easy to apply and holds very well. The product contains 3 powders and a wax cream. The wax cream is awesome, I take the little brush in the kit and brush a little on which keeps the brows in place for a lot longer than just using powder. For the price it is a real bargain.
Product four– Model Co More Brows thickening gel in Light. I was really shocked how dark this gel is. It does give a thickening effect but at a price plus you still need to a pencil to define the brows. The gel even in light shade is only for brunettes really.
In summary I have found there are two products that i recommend for the blonde browed lovelies out there. They are the Makeup Revolution Focus and Fix Brow Kit and Younique’s Moodstruck Precision Brow liner. The Focus and fix brow kit is a great powder which is highly pigmented meaning great coverage. Combine that with the wax cream included and that pigment stays all day. Buy yours here.
Younique’s Moodstruck Precision Brow liner in light is a great pencil. The colour match is spot on and it really does last all day. Buy yours here.
