2017 Beauty Resolutions

New year, new you? There’s no better time than January to commit to a beauty overhaul. You know why I like beauty resolutions? Because they’re fun! Fun resolutions are way easier to keep as opposed to vowing to work out or reading 10 books a month for the next year.

I guess it is easier to stick to fewer resolutions (statistically) so here are my 6.

So, you had five too many glasses of  Champagne on New Year’s Eve, and you’ve fallen asleep face down on your pillow… yet again. You wake up to one false eyelash stuck to your lip, the other one stuck to your forehead.
First new years resolution is removing my makeup every single night before going to bed. Your skin and pores will thank you for it. You will greatly reduce whiteheads, blackheads and give your skin a better brighter glow. Your skin repairs itself while you sleep and any product you put on it (like moisturizer) will soak in better to clean skin.

Brush washing. This is my second resolution. It is the bain of any beauty blogger or MUA’s life. Unless you keep on top of it weekly it’s a long old chore. Dirty brushes become more abrasive and dry as they become more caked with product and debris from your face (vom right?!). Cleaning your brushes regularly keeps them soft enough to not cause damage to your face. Dirty makeup brushes are also a breeding ground for bacteria and germs. 2017 will see me using the Brushegg to keep mine spick and span. It’s so much easier to use than most brush cleaners, you just pop it on your hand and go. What i love about this simple brush clean is that with different textures you can really get down deep with different types of brushes.  Smaller knobs on the top can be used for foaming & lathering . Grooves on the bottom can be used to agitate bristles just enough to release product, dirt, and oils without stripping them. The smaller knobs are also ideal for smaller eye brushes.

Number 3- drink more water!!! Hydrated skin is happy skin. Water is essential for healthy skin, it helps maintain skin’s moisture, replenishes skin tissue, and increases elasticity leading to clearer and more youthful looking skin. Drink more more more!

Slap on the eye cream, that’s what number 4 is. It is not just for the over 50’s! Night creams are a great way of applying a little goodness onto your skin just before you sleep to ensure you wake up the next morning looking great! A mix of moisturiser and other serums etc is essential for your skin to get the nourishment it needs.

Bathe- 5! Hot baths relieve muscle pain and promote better sleep, the perfect beauty resolution. Salt baths have been practiced for centuries for health and beauty benefits too. Salt reduces inflammation and the magnesium in salt draws out toxins so add those bath salts every time!

And last but by no means least- Eat better! Healthy food…healthy skin. Beautiful skin starts with nourishment from within! Fruit and vegetables contain powerful antioxidants that help to protect skin from the cellular damage caused by free radicals. Free radicals are caused by smoking, pollution and sunlight and can cause wrinkling and age spots. The better you eat the better your skin will be.
