Hey there, Beauty Pie!

Ever wondered why on earth people pay £25 for a lipstick, what’s in it to make it so pricey, diamonds?  (I wish) but no, this tube of colour is not filled with extra make-up but a high amount of ‘mark-up’. You pay those extra pennies for… nothing. What if I were to tell you that you can now cut out the middleman, buy direct from the factory and buy your makeup at cost price.

Say hello to Beauty pie! Beauty Pie’s mission is to

They are already sounding like my kind of company. Beauty Pie comes to you from Marcia Kilgore, the brains behind Bliss Spa, Fit Flops, Soap & Glory and most recently Soaper Duper. So already, you know it is going to be good.

Beauty Pie is very different. You can purchase makeup products for full price, just like all the other high end products that milk you for your last pound, or, you can become part of the community. To become part of the community and get your products at cost price you have to sign-up and pay £10 a month, for a minimum of three months. While a lipstick will cost members, £3.43, non-members will have to pay £20. The cost is clear and also- a no brainer. Whilst, yes, £10 a month adds the costs up a little, but, you can then purchase up to £100 worth of makeup a month. If you paid £10 a month for 3 months (minimum term) you would most likely to be able to purchase one of everything for at least an eighth of the price!! B A R G A I N!

The packaging of the products is very basic, but this allows them to keep their prices extremely low. Beauty Pie do not weight the products or add anything extra to make the products luxurious, they just are what they are.

The company promises customers transparency! The company lays it out very plainly. They break down the cost for us to see to show how much each individual cost really does cost. This really shows how much companies are adding on!

So what’s the catch? Because there is always a catch- even when people assure you there is not… there is. But there really isn’t. Pay the £10 a month and the makeup is yours for cost price. That. Is. It!

Although the company are currently not offering a huge choice of shades, that is planning to change this year. 276 new products are hitting your screens throughout the year, the opportunity is endless. Right now choose from; foundation, concealer, powder, highlighter, blush, lipstick, lipgloss, lipliner, brow liner, mascara, eyeshadow, bronzer, accessories and primer.

So lets get down to what everyone is really dieing to know. What are the products ACTUALLY like. For the price, surely the quality is compromised?
Lets start with the foundation. This is called the Everyday Great Skin Foundation and is one of only two types of liquid foundations available right now. It is available in 8 different shades. This is the lightest shade Fair (100) Ivory.

Once this foundation is applied and blended its colour is very true to my skin tone. I find the foundation sits quite well on the skin, but, it does just sit. The liquid is reasonably highly pigmented meaning its a little thicker than a drug store foundation. I wouldn’t compare this product to the likes of Bobbi Brown or Mac but it is definitely on par or better than drug store brands.

Everybody loves a good mascara and Beauty Pie have 3 to choose from. This is the Uber Volume Mascara, there is also Uber Curl Drama Mascara and Flash False Lash Mascara. I must say i was a little unsure at this product at first. I found the best way to apply this one is to take as much off the brush as possible then apply and keep applying the layers slowly and thinly. After a few layers it fans the lashes well and lasts all day.

This highlighter is so so pretty. Beauty Pie claim that this highlighter doesn’t budge for up to 12 hours! It’s not as highlightery as in the online pictures but the product applied reasonably well. It was smooth and lasted around 10 hours. I am 100% more of a blusher girl than a bronzer, maybe because I am quite pale it gives a bit of English Rose back to my cheeks. I feel bronzer just gives me a fake tan look.

I love a peachy blush but this one is REALLY peachy! It is quite highly pigmented which means the shade is more intense but this is a good thing as it means it lasts longer throughout the day. Currently there are 3 shades to choose from and i think next month i may go for a warmer tone.

I already use the Younique Concealer which is extremely pigmented and is also tough to beat! This is a stick concealer and is surprisingly creamy. I thought I would give this one a go and was quite shocked. It covers blemishes really well and covers my big black bags. The only thing I was a little disappointed at was it rubs off quite easily, but, i am sure that’s nothing a little setting spray can’t help with.

And last but not least, brow liner. Now if any of you have read my previous brow post you will know about my love hate relationship with brow pencil. I find it so so hard to find a good brow product for my skin tone and hair colour. I am blonde, blonde blonde, natural blonde… blonde! Most brow products are either to dark or to orangey brown. So because of my track record i didn’t expect much from the shade. However, i was wrong. So wrong!!! I was shocked at how well this liner matched my brows. If you do not subscribe to Beauty Pie this product is £17.00. Subscribe and the product is £2.06!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes you read that right! £2.06!!! and 3 shades to choose from currently. The pencil is really thin meaning you can get real precision.

If you are a beauty addict and plan on buying items monthly… this subscription is for you. If you subscribe even for the first 3 compulsory months and stock up then you are on to a winner. If you are not a makeup addict who may buy makeup on a whim just as and when then this may not work out financially better for you than going to a drug store.
Overall i think it is a fantastic idea, the products are good quality and there are so many more products to come this year. Is it worth it???? In my opinion… yes!! Good products for a good honest price!
