GLOSSYBOX | August 2017 Girl Just Wanna Have Sun
August is hitting the shelves yet the sun and heat is no where in sight. I think the British Summer time has been and gone. We were graced with the most beautiful June and beginning of July I think I have ever lived through in the UK, however, the past week or so wind, rain and storms have battered the countryside. It is somehow August and today is a sunny day so here’s to hoping the sun sticks around.
A new month can only mean one thing, a new Glossybox. So without further ado here is what August’s box has to offer;
If you are new to Glossybox then here is a little info. As you have probably gathered Glossybox is a beauty subscription service. Each month, it delivers a wide and varied selection of 5 beauty treats that include niche, high-end and emerging brands. I love this because you can get some good old faithful products yet try some things you would never normally buy. The latest trends are taken into account with every single box to bring you reusable and stylish boxes full of beauty essentials.
There are 4 different ways to subscribe to Glossybox starting from as low as £9.50! Choose between a monthly rollover box (cancel any time), a 3 month, 6 month or 12 month pre-paid subscription.
Up first for those that maybe aren’t going on a summer vacy is the Model Launcher Safari Sun Bronzer, a mineral-enriched bronzer offers complimentary shades to highlight all skin tones and provides a natural healthy glow. It contains Vitamins A, C and E which help nourish the skin and is also hypoallergenic. The bronzer itself is a little shimmery and whilst at first i was skeptical being so pale I was pleasantly surprised. It blends well and has a good coverage. I am actually looking forward to using this in my every day routine as we aren’t going away until September now.
After getting super excited for the bronzer I kind of overlooked the other products a bit, then, Batiste 2 in 1 Invisible Dry Shampoo and Conditioner caught my eye. This is not a new product for me. We saw it back in March’s Birchbox, however, this doesn’t make me sad. You could send be a whole of with just Batiste inside and I would be happy. The vanilla and passion-flower scent smells amazing and the product works a dream.
Up next we have the Valquer Ice Hair Mask Total Repair a product which I have been quite desperate to try. Now I do not have wild hair but I was super intrigued by this cooling effect. The product is and energizing hair mask with cooling effect that enhances and optimizes the effect of macadamia oil for the most demanding hair. Now since using it I would say my hair feels a little heavier but if I use this after a sunbathing bout I think it would make my hair super happy. I am not closing the door on this product just yet.
The next item in the box is a full size SportFX Time Out Face Mist + Fix. SportFX is a company who I am seeing a lot of recently especially through Glossybox. This is not said critically. This is really a multi product. You can use it to fix makeup, a refreshing spray after the gym, a hydrator, a redness reducer… amazing! This product now lives in my handbag and I want it there forever. There is nothing bad to say about this product. There are no parabens, petroleum or mineral oils and the mist is rich in vitamins. All I can see is tick tick tick!!!
A full-sized Rodial Suede Lips comes out the box next. This is a highly pigmented matte, moisturising lip pencil which contains vitamin E for extra lip hydration. I found the pencil lasted around 5 or 6 hours which I really wasn’t expecting. This retails for £22 so you can see the box is already adding up to super worth it this month.
The last item I pulled out was the Purelei Aloha Hairband. When I first saw this in the box I honestly thought “oh great another ‘hair band’ that is next going to hold my hair” and I put it to one side. Until this morning. I thought, no, you need to give it a fair review Elle. I’m in shock, how foolish I was. It is super stretchy and so kind on your hair. It doesn’t snag and pull and apparently they really keep their shape too. Big thumbs up here.
This is the second Glossybox summer themed box which has been a really nice change from the usual pink boxes. I absolutely loved this box, I know I say this most months but it is truly meant. I felt this month Glossybox have really upped the game and the products, although very hair and makeup orientated, I find is great for this season. I will be packing what I have left of these on my holidays this year. From me this box is a ten out of ten!!!!!
