Welcome back to the ABB Book Club (ABBBC). February has literally flown by and we have been reading The List by Siobhan Vivian.
I ploughed through this book at the beginning of the month as I knew having a new born would mean my priorities were going to be a bit out of wack and found it to be a surprisingly easy read.
The List is about a group of people who’s names are put on a list at the beginning of the new school year. The list is the hottest and ugliest people from each year ranked by an anonymous student.
When initially picking up this book it seemed light hearted and easy to read. As I got deeper it actually highlighted the struggles of so many girls going through High School and the ‘desire’ to be ‘beautiful’ along with the consequences.
The plot itself is fairly simple; it follows each of the girls in the days and weeks that follow after the list is published. The ending I feel is definitely a bit of a let down to be honest. I felt like she just wanted to finish the story rather than give a wow factor.
I probably will read this book again but not for a while.
I think March is going to be just too busy to do a review so we will leave this one until end of April. April’s book of choice will be Happy: Finding joy in every day and letting go of perfect By Fearne Cotton. You can buy it here.
