Glossybox | April 2018
The Sun is out and it is glorious! April is truly giving us a good taster for the summer sun! Hotter than Barcelona yesterday means I have been soaking up those rays in the garden and catching up with all my blogging including this little beaut of a Glossybox that arrived a few days ago. Still better late than never… this is one box that I most definitely wanted to arrive! It has been one of my favourite boxes of the year so far I think.
If you are new to Glossybox then here is a little info. As you have probably gathered Glossybox is a beauty subscription service. Each month, it delivers a wide and varied selection of 5 beauty treats that include niche, high-end and emerging brands. I love this because you can get some good old faithful products yet try some things you would never normally buy.
The latest trends are taken into account with every single box (you can see past boxes here) to bring you reusable and stylish boxes full of beauty essentials.
There are 4 different ways to subscribe to Glossybox starting from as low as £9.50! Choose between a monthly rollover box (cancel any time), a 3 month, 6 month or 12 month pre-paid subscription. Each month there is a little deal to be had on a freebie up for grabs so make sure you keep and eye out on social media.
This month’s Glossybox is all about nostalgia and taking you back to the 70s, 80s, and 90s! From bold lips to bright cheeks this box has you covered.
For your cheeks Glossybox have included Karl Lagerfeld + Model Co Bake Blush in Light Beige. I ‘ummed and ahhhhed’ when I saw this product in the box.
A light beige blush is not something that suits me. A lot of the cheaper brands have tried to master these and they have just been…. awful. However, I was prepared to give it a go. I did feel a little like a glowing unicorn and maybe I shouldn’t have used so much but the shade is pretty and is pigmented well.
Suggestion; use a little at first and build rather than assuming you need a lot.
Lips. I wondered what product I would receive for the lips and I was super happy to see the MDMFlow Liquid Matte Lipstick. I have seen a couple of MDMFlow products before in various boxes and have loved them but I was yet to try the Liquid Matte Lipstick.
This lipstick contains beeswax and vitamin E which means your lips don’t get dried out whilst wearing it (yay)! The shade is super gorgeous and makes most evening outfits look really glam. I wouldn’t say the product is extremely long-lasting but on a night out I only had to reapply twice which isn’t so bad.
If you’re like me I don’t like the dewy effect left but a lot of foundations, I prefer a matte finish and that’s where Affect Cosmetics Matt Effect Transparent Loose Rice Powder can help you. Apply straight after your foundation with a powder puff brush to give that matte finish. It acts like a setting powder and is said to be the next Banana Powder.
I couldn’t tell if it made my makeup last longer or not but it definitely did help to take the dewiness away.
Now for the eyes. FAT Liquid Eyeliner is the product that all subscribers will receive. It is a smudge proof felt tip like brush that has such an intense darkness to it.
So many of these kind of brush liners come out scratchy and almost grey where the liquid doesn’t come through properly but this one is black, bold and ready.
To remove all these beautiful products from your skin we have Botanics All Bright Micellar Cleansing Water. This water is so gentle on the skin you really don’t need to rub at your skin. I wasn’t a huge fan of the smell but it took off all my makeup so easily.
After makeup removal I always do one final rub over to get rid of anything deep in my pores but it hardly produced anything on this final wipe as it had taken it all off already. I was really impressed. It doesn’t leave your skin feeling dry or taut either.
I thought the theme of this box really fitted its contents. The products, although all makeup apart from the Micellar water, makes a change and has left me feeling really happy with the box. I am seeing that some of the boxes have the Imperial Leather unicorn body wash which I have really been eyeing up, however, I think the Micellar Water, as the box is all makeup, fits better. I’d usually moan about the variety being well… not existent but this month it just works so well.
The sneak peek for next month shows the fabulous vegan and cruelty free duo of shampoo and conditioner from Maria Nila.
