The summer has been a beautifully hot one this year and I am in no way complaining about that. It has been a summer of wonder watching Evelyn grow and achieve milestones, one that I’ll never forget.
However… Autumn I am ready for you!!!!
Autumn is my absolute favourite time of year. I am a real home bird and the thought of a blustery walk in the woods kicking the pile of leaves as you go and then coming home and having a hot chocolate but the fire and then snuggled in the sofa with a blanket and a film…. is there anything truly better?
The sound of boots crunching down on brown leaves, – don’t worry I am not going to get all poetic with you I just absolutely love it.
Waking up this morning there was a fresh air chill with no breeze and everything was so still. It was perfect and it totally got me excited.
I love how bloody English some people are. Just a few days a go it was a little chillier here and by that I mean 16/17c and there were people with boots on and thick jumpers. I did have a giggle… and then went home and put my fluffy jumper on hahaha.
English people have 2 extremes I think. There are the ones that will wear shorts everyday of the year unless it is snowing or super icy and then there are people who bang on 1st September change over to their winter wardrobe and out come the jumpers, thick socks and boots.
I don’t think I am personally that bad but I do love a good jumper. And I am not ashamed to admit that Christmas songs do start getting played in our house when they come on the radio- so that is pretty much mid November! Yep – people moan ‘oh it gets earlier every year’ but I bask in the glory!
The Autumn sun is also a love of mine. When it shines through the trees and hits the crisp brown leaves on the ground it makes for such a beautiful scene. I remember days as a child waiting and waiting to get the hats and gloves out and how each year I seemed to wear them less and less.
Gone are the days of Bonfire night being wrapped up in every layer you own and your mum telling you to put an extra pair of gloves on if you’re going to have a sparkler! I remember last year I was hot in a hoodie and jeans.
I know people will hate me for this but I am hoping for a cold one this year! Earlier this year when Evelyn was born the snow was thick… well thick for England… I hated Evelyn not being able to experience it -being only a few days old it was far too cold for her to go out. Hopefully this year Autumn/ winter it’ll be different.
I am literally so excited! It is nearly mid September which means soon the clocks will go back and the nights will get colder.
Autumn… you are on the very brink of arrival… and I can’t wait!
