We Started Weaning Vol. 3 | Raising Evelyn

I never thought in a million years when I first wrote ‘We Started Weaning Vol.1‘ there would be a vol.2 or a vol.3, but life has a funny way of showing you who’s boss and how to test your patience, so here we are… Volume 3. Evelyn is Nearly 13 Months. Is she weaned yet… no she is not. In Vol.2 we were really struggling with Evelyn. She is a contrary little madam and her food intake is minimal still. I had flagged this up with Health Visitors at 7 months, 8  ...

We Started Weaning Vol. 2 | Raising Evelyn

I wanted to write a follow up / Volume 2 of Evelyn’s weaning stories. 3/4 months ago we were weaning Evelyn and getting ourselves into a right old pickle! Evelyn is 9 months, I can’t say we are now ‘plain sailing’ but we are doing a lot better. We have totally done away with any form of bowl…spoon…folk…spork…. it just wasn’t happening. I decided it was time for her to try doing it all herself. She is the most independent baby and knows  ...

We Started Weaning | Raising Evelyn

No one tells you ‘Today is the day to start weaning!’ No one says ‘Hey it is going to be a long hard slog!’ or “The is going to be super easy!’ No body says anything like that and just like that *BAM* you regret even starting! We started weaning Evelyn when she was 5 months. She was more than ready and everything was going straight in her mouth. It started well. We started with dinner because that was what was working for our lifestyle and she would have  ...

Evelyn’s First Christmas | Raising Evelyn

I’d been looking forward to Evelyn’s first Christmas for so long. Her cousin was born 6 months after her so to have the two of them together on the 25th was going to be so extra special. Christmas is a mix of rushing round to see all the families. It seems that we have Thomas for Christmas Day one year and Boxing Day the next. So this year, as it was our turn for Boxing Day, we spent the 25th with my family. I love Christmas so incredibly much. It is my most favourite time of  ...

2018| What a Bloody Year!

As 2019 starts I have found myself assessing how much life has changed in the past 12 months. 2018 has been a very dramatic year in the Ritson household and quite frankly I am super glad to see the back of it. For me, 2018 started heavily pregnant with a tonne of aches and pains but swimming on the high of a new gorgeous diamond and sapphire engagement ring on my finger. I was a whirlwind of mixed emotion yet emotionally so ready for the year ahead. Evelyn arrived on her due date of 19th  ...

9 Months in | 9 Months out

9 Whole Months!! Like W.T.F! 9 Months in… 9 Months out Evelyn is 9 months old today… that’s a whole pregnancy! Or 4.5″ of hair growth, or the time it takes to read Harry Potter series 168 times, or Watch a butterfly appear from a cocoon after it makes it about 25 times!!! It is such weird feeling still that she is here and she is ours. It gives me cold sweats when I think about how quick it has gone and all the things she has learnt to do and all the things she will  ...

Becoming a Vegan | A Meatless Me

Can we start just by clarifying that I am trying to turn Vegan currently. I know it is hard for current meat eaters but this post is there to help both me and you, so don’t call me out if you still see me with bacon in my hand… I’m getting there ok. I want to take this back to basics to help those that have little knowledge about Veganism and also to those that are newly turned Vegans. If you want to add anything please comment. Id love more recipes and tips! According to  ...

Evelyn is 6 months old | Raising Evelyn

Evelyn is 6 months old, like whhhaaaa??? 6 months has gone ridiculously quick. I cannot understand how it has been 6 months since I screamed at the midwife this baby was coming today! I think I have had a mostly stable 6 months. I’ve had 1 melt down, 3 times I cried after looking in the mirror and approximately 182 days of IDGAF what I am wearing. I thought with all the emotions and hormone in- balances there would be daily tears but I am doing ok. I remember very clearly my first  ...

The Postpartum in between weight | Why nothing in my wardrobe fits

This is the part I knew I would hate. Waking up in the morning and trying to find something in the wardrobe that fits. Every morning I still try to squeeze into my size 8 jeans in the hope that over night somehow I have lost a stone (lol)! I have already lost 3 stone since giving birth and I have a little less than one left to lose and Evelyn is not even 5 months yet. I think I am doing quite well but that last stone is a killer to shift. I see now why they call it stones! Can we just stop  ...
