Oh EcoTools how I love thee. You will know from my last post how glorious their brushes are and how much I love them. Eco Tools, as a company, are a breath of fresh air

Cruelty free, tree free paper and 100% Vegan. I think Vegan items are becoming more and more prominent in the industry. People are beginning to slowly realise the effect killing animals (whether to eat or use for medicine or cosmetics) is having. Animal Agriculture is responsible for 18% of greenhouse gas emissions more than the combined exhaust from ALL transportation! I’m being dead serious. Things are getting out of hand. It has recently got me really thinking about the food I am putting in my mouth and the products I put on my skin. So in light of this I thought I would try out their Bath and Spa range because I really do love a good pamper and I thought- Could these products actually stand against those that everyone loves so much that are harmful to animals and are destroying our world. Lets see.

So this is their Konjac Facial Sponges, they are a real fave of mine. They are naturally cleansing and refreshing for your face. It is a hard like sponge that softens when wet. Totally eco too- made from vegetable fiber, plus 100% Vegan. Konjac sponges are the Japanese secret to flawless skin. The sponge acts as a gentle exfoliator, rubbing off dead skin cells in the most delicate manner. The extra soft texture means that its ok for anyone to use,  babies included! At just £5.09 it is a real bargain. Remember though don’t leave it one the side to dry, make sure it is hung! I love the texture of this sponge, I have only ever tried one other Konjac sponge but this is definitely up there at the top.

I then thought I would give the new Cleansing Mitt a go. It is a real in between or coarse and soft material that when wet molds to the shape of your hand. The slight abrasive material gives a really good clean of your face without being too harsh. This lovely mitt is only £2.54! Like seriously for that price I would quite happily buy a truck load. They are really handy for a quick wipe over or a full on skin care routine. I think they are quite durable too. I think it is very unlucky they would rip or break and the quality suggests it will last a while.

Muslin Polishing Cloths. Now when I see the word Muslin I instantly think of a baby. These wonderful cloths are designed with organic cotton to remove dirt, oil and makeup for fresh and revived skin. You simply use your normal cleanser and use this cloth wrung out from warm water to make it slightly damp and wipe the cleanser off. The pureness of the muslin helps cling to all the dirt and really take it out of your pores. I think with these its a much softer approach to the cleansing mitt and I wasn’t a huge fan. I think a flannel can do exactly the same job, however, I will perserve and update this if my feelings change. They are however only £5.09 for two.

Eco tools Bath & SpaFacial Mask Mates. Now when I received these I was like WTF, but actually it makes so much sense and is actually genius. Whenever I put on face masks I loose half of over my hands, half has dribbled down my arms and the rest is either in the sink, on my neck or in my hair. So what better way than to apply it with … well a makeup brush! It is mess-less. And then taking it off well that is another kettle of fish. That really does go everywhere. So it would be so much easier to use a small sponge (no soap required) right? Eco Tools have provided just that. Just rinse and air dry afterwards. These sponges are also great to use with your cleanser during your everyday routine to remove dirt, oil and makeup.

Eco tools Bath & Spa

Eco Tools offer a super soft organic cotton Relaxing Sleep Mask. I love these for one main reason. FLYING! I love flying but I can never sleep on flights. I once flew to Australia and there was not one minutes kip in the whole 26.5 hours! I find that with a soft sleep mask I can at least get an hour or so. The thickness shuts out all light and makes it really easy to drift off. I will definitely be taking this with to Italy this year. At just £4.24 you are getting a easy cheap sleep mask.

Eco Tools’ Bath and Spa range gets a ten out of ten from me. It delivers exactly what is required and the quality of products really does stand out.

Welcome back to the ABBBC. This months book of choice was  My Heart and Other Black Holes by Jasmine Warga. When I chose this book for the club I didn’t really know much about it so I didn’t really know what to expect. This book is actually being turned into a film which should be quite interesting

Firstly I want to start with the title ‘My heart and other black holes’. I don’t feel the title has much of a resemblance to the story and I felt there could have been a much better title. The title is a line from the story but it is said in a passing comment kind of way which I feel doesn’t give much back to the book. Maybe the no clue’s approach is a good one but for me I prefer to have a little clue from the title.

The story centers on a pair of suicidal teenagers, Aysel Seran and Roman Franklin, who meet through an online site matching up suicide partners. These sites actually exist (no lie!) ! The story is a count down to the day they decide they are going to commit suicide together. As the book unravels the pair slowly fall more and more in love.
The books end with Roman not wanting Aysel to hurt herself and he tries to commit suicide on his own but Aysel saves him.

I think Aysel is a really relatable character for anyone that had a tough time in school or as being a teenager. She is confused and her self worth is pretty much next to none- no one should ever feel like that.
I really enjoyed reading this book partly due to it being easy to read but also partly because my teenage years werent the easiest and if I had to go back I probably wouldn’t want to do it all over again. Aysel and Roman fall in love despite looks, despite history, despite school ‘hierarchy’ . They fall in love because they have a common interest and enjoy each others company- That right there is the best kind of love!

I want to know what happens next… What do you think would happen? happily ever after… the jump? What?

June’s book to purchase and read before the end of June is going to be Extraordinary Means by Robyn Schneider . You can buy it here.

I will try and edit this post as and when I do them with photos and comments for you all!

XIP is a company that has been formed by Makeup artists and industry experts to create a range of beautiful products that will help all woman enhance their natural beauty. If any of you saw my post about XIP a few months ago you will know I totally fell in love with them.
The products are just so clean-cut, to the point and of such quality. It so nice to meet a company that is in it for the product rather than the profit.
So after my mascara review, I just had to try some more of their products. So I sat down and had a thought- what do I need in my life. Now we all know about my love hate relationship with my brows so what better way to try their Eye and Brow Palette (for starters) and of course- concealer. I think a concealer can say a lot about a company. If they can’t get their concealer right there is no hope for them. I thought I would pick up their Sculpting Palette and their Pearl breeze Concealer plus a Sculpting cream brush for good measure.

So… brows. I will be totally honest, upon looking at it I was apprehensive. I actually sat down and said to my ‘you can do this’ like it was some hurdle to overcome (haha). 6 shades, 3 stencils and 2 brushes. They have you covered. The palette makes doing your brows super super easy. I found the shades for your eyes blended really well and didn’t crease too easily throughout the day. I think a good eye primer will help it stay on a little longer too. The brow shades were a little dark for me but blending them out with a little cream and the brush worked wonders. The stencils helped me hugely too. The shades are not massively pigmented but for brows I do think that’s a good thing. Nobody wants slugs.

Next we have their Golden Touch Sculpting Palette (aka the Concealer palettes)which can be used to conceal, highlight and contour, It really is super easy to use. There is a video guide on how to here. I combined this with the super soft Sculpting Cream brush. (Which is absolutely amazing for the job!) I was really dubious about the cream palette. I don’t know why it is just normally something I wouldn’t go for. However, the creamy actually applied to the brush really well, you didn’t have to gouge at the creams for them to come off onto the brush. I think I can only use around 3 shades from the palette as being super pale any dark comes our really dark. The creams seem to be quite long wearing. They are not massively pigmented but they are enough for contouring and highlighting.

The Pearl Breeze Concealer is a liquid concealer. It is in click tube that when clicked increases the amount of concealer in the brush. You do not need much at all. The liquid is quite highly pigmented and covers surprisingly well. It is available in two shades. One has yellow undertones and one has pink undertones. The concealer has been created with a real unique formula enriched with Marula Oil. ‘Marula Oil is an all-natural, cold pressed, highly nutritious, very light textured oil. It is naturally soothing, fast-absorbing and suitable for all skin types.’ However the oil doesn’t make it feel greasy. It dries in a matte finish and sits on the skin so well under foundation. I may have just fallen in love a little! I don’t say this often but I have only ever found one truly amazing concealer and I think XIP are 100% on par with it! It’s a tough call to choose but by god it is good. I would definitely use this concealer over the palette for concealer, but like I said the palette is amazing for highlight and contouring but that may just be that I am comparing it to the Pearl which is a lot more pigmented, I guess it is just preference here.

XIP, I feel, haven’t had enough coverage in the media, their products are amazing! Why haven’t you tried them yet?! Quality, reasonably priced and they actually work. They are really good products! Like really good. I don’t think there is barely anything I would change about XIP products, maybe a lighter shaded brow palette but that’s it!

If you would like any of these wonderful products, head over to their page where you can purchase them all. XIP-professional.com

Have you tried XIP products?

The one and only Spacemasks! I have been waiting to try these out ever since they were in production and they have finally found themselves on my door mat destined for my tired eyes. So Spacemasks are not face masks nor are they sleep masks. They are a relaxation eye mask which will help you recover and reenergise.

From the moment I opened the packet I know I was if for a treat. The Mask contains a thing layer of encased iron filings. I know that sounds weird but when presented against oxygen molecules in the air the mask begins to heat. Don’t worry this isn’t going to burn your face off. It simply warms up to give your eyes that ‘I’m in bed and it is sleep time’ feeling. Twin this with a little infused Jasmine and this mask really does take you to a different dimension.

I will be totally honest (as always) the mask does look like a sanitary towel, with two loops. Simply hook each loop over each of your ears and allow the mask to work its magic. Lay calmly for 15 minutes and, I kid you not, your eyes feel like they had have an 8 hour sleep. The smell isn’t that potent which means you are not going to start sneezing or have irritated eyes and skin. It is just enough to make you feel super chilled.

This product is great for if your busy on the go all the time, rushing from flight to flight or even simply to nurse a hangover. Actually it works particularly well when you are nursing a hangover. The warmth from the mask radiates to your head banishing that headache too (I found). After using just one of these masks I felt like I wanted to sleep for the rest of the day. Im going to try using it next time just before bed and I think it would help make me drift off super quick.
Note the mask warms very very quickly when opened so make sure you are ready to relax straight away.

As you can guess I will be stocking up on these. They are great value for money too- a box of 5 for only £15!! That’s only £3 each! They have actually been featured in Tatler Magazine and are their no.1 product to aid sleep and relaxation. You can Buy yours here.
