Why I don’t Babble Back | Mum Life

Countless mum’s babble away to they baby when they first start making noises. It’s only natural. Then the babbling really kicks off and there is no way in hell’s chance you know what they’re saying but you make the noise back anyway and before you know it you’re engaged in a incoherent conversation with a one year old. But that’s not me. Slightly unorthodox maybe and baffling to some, but this is us. We decide very early on with Evelyn that we  ...

I Just Want To Write

Writing has always been an outlet for me. When I was a child/young teen I was forever writing stories or starting new diaries. Every year it started so well with such good intentions. I’d steadily keep up my entries for about 2 months or so, on and off for 4 or 5 months, but I would start to forget or life or school would get in the way. But then I had a very different upbringing to most, but that’s for another time. I remember January 1st always started like; ‘It’s  ...

Preventing Pregnancy with an App? Really?

As I am sat here on this chilly autumn night I came across something which actually quite shocked me. Firstly I think women can drive themselves a bit potty with pregnancy tests, apps, how to’s, what to’s and the ever-growing abyss of the internet when trying to conceive. For us it was more keeping track of what was happening to my body when. One app I absolutely swore by was one called P.D. It asks you how you’re feeling on certain days, you track your period etc and it  ...

Why I love Autumn

Leaves are slowly hitting the ground, the hint of Christmas is around the corner and conkers are littering our parks…. It can only be one time of year here in the UK… AUTUMN. I think Autumn is well and truly on its way and I am so excited. It is my absolute favourite time of year regardless of the cold weather and impending clouds. There is something so sadistically beautiful about the leaves dying on trees. The colours are so varied and stunning! As you can see below things are  ...

Why August saw me have a staycation

August saw me stay very much in kent this year. This is the first in many many years that I have done this. A Staycation isn’t all that bad, especially when bank holiday weekend is 28c! I stayed in my sunny corner of the UK for many reasons but mainly because travelling in august is so expensive. Last year we flew to crete in august. Flights were £1400 for the three of us, yet, the previous year we flew to Crete in October for £60 return each! It blows my mind how travel companies are  ...

And then there were four

I think this is one of the best posts I have ever written. Today’s lovely post comes to you in the form of Baby Ritson due early 2018. Phil, Tommy and I are so very happy and excited to have a beautiful baby on the way. You might be wondering how the bump seemingly appeared overnight. For a short time, hiding it in photos was relatively easy, baggy clothing, leaning forward slightly or to the side at the right angles. But over the past six weeks or so, I’ve definitely been showing and  ...

Touring London With London Duck Tours

One of the things I vowed to do on my 50 before 30 list (no.48) was to ‘Be a tourist in my own town and go and check out the local history’ and last weekend I did just that. I have never been on a real bus tour of London, never, I mean, I live around the corner- why would I when there are so many other more exotic places to go right? WRONG! There is so much history right on your doorstep, whether you live in central London or the streams of the Cotswolds, History is everywhere  ...

Soul Healing

We all know that sometimes life can really grind you down. There are times when the littlest of things can set you off. Whether it be tears, a bad day, a bad week, an ‘episode’… it can be the straw that broke the camels back. Over the past year I’ve been trying to focus on being a better person for many different reasons. It takes a lot for me to snap and when I do it is not pretty. I am one of those people that’ll sit there and fester until the cup overfills.  ...

People around you are a reflection of yourself

I think it is really important to write these kind of posts every now and again. Not just for my readers but for myself too. You see so many social media posts where one person says something negative and it spirals out of control. Comment after comment is made with either in agreement or fighting against what is being said causing more negativity. It is very rare you see a very negative post and someone comments on it something happy or cheery. We live in a world where people love to moan  ...

Mother’s Day- A dedication to my mum

So no, this is not a beauty post nor is it a review of some kind. This is a post of dedication. This is a post dedicated to my mum, because…let’s be honest… without her, where would I be? My mum is called Dawn. Always happy, always bright and always full of hope just like a summer’s dawn. She is a wonderful woman who has spent her entire life caring for others. My mother, until recently, was a nurse. Aged 18 she moved into nursing quarters and from that very day her  ...
